About Merrow Studio

We help good organisations communicate, influence and grow.

The organisations doing the most important work are rarely the most visible, the most trusted, or the most heard. We think that’s a problem worth solving — across digital, communications and public affairs — for organisations that answer to more than shareholders.

What we believe

A few things we hold to be true.

These aren’t values from a workshop. They’re the views we’ve formed through years of doing this work — and they shape every engagement we take on.

01

Visibility and credibility are the same problem.

Most organisations treat digital presence and reputation as separate workstreams. They're not. How you appear online shapes how you're trusted in person — and vice versa. The organisations that understand this have a significant advantage over those that don't.

02

Purpose-led organisations deserve better than they usually get.

The standard agency model wasn't built for charities, B-Corps and social enterprises. It was built for brands with big budgets and short time horizons. Purpose-led organisations have different constraints, different accountability structures, and different measures of success. They deserve partners who understand that.

03

AI is reshaping how organisations are found and judged.

The shift from search to AI-generated answers isn't a trend to watch. It's happening now, and it's changing which organisations are visible, which are trusted, and which are invisible to the people who matter most to their mission. Getting ahead of this is no longer optional.

04

Senior expertise shouldn't only be available to large organisations.

Some of the most impactful work we do is for organisations that have never had access to the quality of thinking they need. We work with a focused number of clients at any one time specifically so that every engagement gets genuine senior attention — not junior delivery dressed up as expertise.

05

Honesty is the foundation of any useful engagement.

We'd rather tell you we're not the right fit than take work we can't do well. We'd rather deliver a difficult message clearly than soften it until it's useless. The organisations we work with best are the ones who want that kind of relationship.

The name

Why Merrow.

Two meanings. Both felt right.

I

The folklore

In Irish and Celtic mythology, a merrow is a creature that moves between two worlds — sea and land, depth and surface, the hidden and the visible. We liked that. What we do is fundamentally about movement between worlds: between the room where decisions are made and the digital channels where organisations are found, between what an organisation knows about itself and what the right audiences understand about it. The merrow lives in the space between. So do we.

II

The craft

In textiles, a merrow stitch is an edge-finishing technique — the thing that ties loose threads together and stops a piece from fraying. We found that quietly apt. A lot of what we do is integration: joining digital and communications work that usually sits in separate silos, connecting what an organisation says publicly to how it's found privately, making sure the edges hold. The name felt like it was trying to tell us something.

Who we are

Founded on complementary expertise.

16+
Years of combined experience

Across digital marketing, marketing technology, strategic communications and public affairs — in agency, consultancy and client-side roles.

UK
London-based, globally experienced

Operating primarily across the UK and Australia, with hands-on sector experience in both markets and a network that extends further.

AU
Australia presence

Active relationships and delivery capability in the Australian market, where purpose-led organisations face many of the same digital and communications challenges.

→
Founder-led delivery

You work directly with the people who built their expertise — not account managers or junior teams operating under a senior name.

“The organisations doing the most important work are rarely the most visible. We change that.”

Merrow Studio brings together two distinct but complementary bodies of expertise: senior digital strategy and marketing technology experience — including deep knowledge of SEO, AI visibility, CRO, analytics and campaign delivery — and senior public affairs and strategic communications capability from within top-tier advisory practice.

We’ve operated at a senior level across agencies, consultancies and client-side organisations. We understand what good looks like, we know what delivery actually requires, and we’re honest about the difference.

Merrow Studio is deliberately small. We work with a focused number of clients at any one time — across the UK and Australia — because we believe that’s the only way to do genuinely good work. We’re not trying to be the biggest. We’re trying to be the most useful.

Where we work

Two markets.
One consistent standard.

We operate across the UK and Australia — two markets with their own dynamics, regulatory environments and sector landscapes, but shared challenges around visibility, trust and accountability for purpose-led organisations.

United Kingdom

London & UK

Our primary base. Deep experience across UK charities, B-Corps, membership organisations and regulated businesses — with an understanding of the UK policy landscape, media environment and third-sector funding dynamics that comes from working in and around it.

Australia

Australia

Active presence and genuine delivery capability across the Australian market. We understand the differences — in funding models, regulatory environments, and the specific pressures facing Australian purpose-led organisations — and we work with clients there on the same terms as we do in the UK.

Who we work with

Organisations that answer to more than shareholders.

We work best with organisations where communications, trust and public accountability are central to the mission — not an afterthought. Where what you say matters, how you're found matters, and who hears you matters.

B-Corps

Certified businesses balancing purpose and commercial ambition, where stakeholder communications and digital presence need to reflect both.

Charities

UK and Australian non-profits, foundations and trusts — where every pound of communications spend needs to be justified and every audience relationship matters.

Social enterprises

Mission-led organisations creating measurable social value, often navigating both commercial and public accountability simultaneously.

Membership bodies

Associations, institutes and sector organisations where member communications, public affairs and digital presence all need to work in concert.

“Found by the right people. Trusted by the ones who matter.”

Work with us.

We take on a limited number of new clients each year. If you’re working on something that matters and want to talk about whether we’re the right fit, we’d like to hear from you.
